Cold weather drew bald eagles over Cedar Rapids with at least 60 seen in late January. They perch in cottonwoods and dive into open water to feed on fish, especially gizzard shad. DDT ban helped rebound populations. open water areas near dams and warm effluent attract hunting birds. Patterson leads Indian Creek Nature Center.
Ten local investors redeveloped the 4 acre Hubbard Ice Plant site at 1124 First St NW into Hubbard Industrial Park to host new and existing Cedar Rapids businesses.
