Iowa senators plan a measure to boost the earned income tax credit for working families earning 45000 or less, with a potential 8 to 10 cent gas tax rise tied to broader tax reform. The proposal would lift the credit to 13 percent of the federal amount for 2012, benefiting over 250000 workers and 266000 children and cutting a family of four’s tax bill.
