Coretta Scott King’s Children Recall Last Days
Coretta Scott King died at 78 from pneumonia linked to ovarian cancer. Her children said she seemed to be recovering before dying suddenly on the day she planned to begin treatment at a Mexico clinic. Autopsy confirmed cancer had lingered for about a year and a half. The family defended their clinic choice amid Mexican authorities’ later shutdown. Services at Ebenezer Baptist Church honored her life as civil rights matriarch. Her body would lie in honor at Ebenezer’s Heritage Sanctuary.
