Iowa students place in national xACT accounting contest
A five student team from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business won 10 000 as national finalists in PricewaterhouseCoopers Extreme Accounting xACT in New York City January 22 23 The group including Joseph Allen Cedar Rapids Elizabeth Brodahl Waterloo Justin Bedford Coralville Ryan Schmidt Maysville and Michael Miller Cedar Falls earned 1000 previously in a UI preliminary round Their fictitious Panadrievia government accounting task tested analysis creativity and presentation Judges noted teamwork and problem solving as key factors The team will be recognized along with faculty advisers Tom Carroll and Lynn Pringle.
