Linn County buys Freeway Express building in Cedar Rapids
Linn County will take ownership on June 1 of the Freeway Express building at Eighth Avenue and Third Street SW for 68,000 dollars from Don Pfeifer. The bar will likely continue operating as the county gains control of the block from the railroad to Second Street. The current tenant will stay with insurance and rental terms set, while the county plans potential future public use or sale. The bar rents for about 950 dollars monthly with the operator covering most costs except roof and walls. The Mott Building nearby rents for 2,000 dollars to Linn Star Trucking.
