Budget office chief says Carter goals unlikely
Alice Rivlin, director of the Budget Office, told the House Budget Committee that Carter administration goals to balance the budget by 1981 and cut inflation and unemployment to 4 percent by 1983 are highly unlikely. She warned growth may slow and inflation may stay around 5.7 to 6.7 percent in 1978 and 1979 if current policies continue, presenting four budget alternatives for comparison.
