Nick Sedore, 22, of 172 Harriet Avenue NW, pled innocent to a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Hullinger, Jr. set a March 4 trial date. Sedore, arrested Jan. 19, charged with causing a minor to be guilty of vicious or immoral conduct on Jan. 18. He is free on bond.
Wilbur L Miller 61 longtime Wellman businessman died after a monthlong illness. He owned Miller s Tiny Diner and partnered in M and M grocery. Survivors include wife three children Leon Paul and Susan Whetstone eleven grandchildren and two sisters. A memorial service was held Tuesday.
Memorial services for Dr. L A Miller of North English and Claire Miller of Schmuecker are set for Friday at St Patrick's Catholic church in Fort Wayne Indiana. The service follows a Mass at 2 PM with burial at a local cemetery. The body rests at Ponen funeral chapel.
Five Quasqueton youths appeared before Municipal Judge Loren M. Hubinger Jr on assault charges and pled innocent. Trials set for Feb 20 and Feb 13 for sentencing follow two guilty pleas by Charles Lange and Orlan R. Love. All defendants remain free on $110 bonds each.
Donald L Kness, 29, pled innocent to assault and battery charges filed after an alleged beating of LaVerne Mills on Feb 2 at 10 a.m. on Ninth Street SW. He was arrested on a warrant and is free on a $110 bond. Hullinger Jr. set the trial for February.

Eugene H. Smith pled guilty to intoxication and obscene language and received two 80 day jail sentences. Hollinger ordered Smith released for work each day and said the sentences may run concurrently if he does not miss work.
George Sheldon of 424 Seventh Street Southwest faced a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was released on his own recognizance after an arrest on January 27. the court gave him until February 13 to move or plead. Information was signed by Doraty E. Whitters alleging failure to support his minor child.
Stefan Kehl, 40, of Lia Highwood, was injured Thursday morning at the Allis Chalmers plant while operating a punch press. A spokesman said the punch broke, causing a back puncture wound. He underwent surgery at Mercy Hospital and was listed in satisfactory condition before the operation.

Walley Winchell, shaken by his son's Christmas death, said he will give up his Broadway column after nearly five decades. He had paused writing recently and cited the burden of sorrow as prompting his decision to step down.
