Food Subsidy Aids Proposed By Senators For Low Income Groups
A group of senators proposed a 500 million dollar annual food subsidy plan limited to low income families as an alternative to the administration’s 1.5 billion dollar general subsidies. The plan, based on income under 1600 dollars, would modify the Aiken-LaFollette stamp bill and be offered as an amendment to Bankhead’s bill. The senate will take up the Bankhead measure next week amid support and opposition from various lawmakers and farm groups.
