Iowa tax break plan draws Mosher criticism
Iowa lawmakers move to align state tax law with the 1980 federal changes that boost the income exclusion for individuals and couples. The bill would cut tax receipts by an estimated 8 million to 10 million dollars in 1982 and 1983 while expanding credits for alcohol fuels. Comptroller Ronald F. Mosher criticized the plan saying it makes little sense amid a tight state budget and questioned where the money would come from to fund the reductions. Governor Ray did not include the cut in his recent biennial budget plan.
