Court notes Kovar case critiques hospital control
The court observed that in the matter of the plaintiff Mrs. Kovar the hospital at Independence functioned as if she were under the superintendent rather than under Dr R R Stewart, highlighting the degree of control over mail and visitation.

Testimony in Judge Thompson's court recounts Kovar's attempts to gain release from the state hospital thwarted by his wife and by a restrictive communication order.
