One in eight Iowa women victims of forcible rape
The Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault reports 12.7 percent of adult Iowa women have endured forcible rape in their lifetimes based on data from 11 000 surveys. In Linn County 9 400 of 74 000 adult women and in Johnson County 5 700 of 45 000 have been raped. The study urges public health action and restoring 2.2 million dollars to aid victims, noting underReporting and calls to extend statutes of limitations.
