Ebert Certified as Marion Police Chief Under Fire
Marion Police Chief Chris Ebert received police certification last Tuesday from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Four Marion detectives allege improper appointment and say city officials may not have known of his uncertified status before the selection. Mayor Grundy calls it an oversight and says certification would have been required. Ben Yarrington of the ILEA confirms certification and says hiring standards were met.
