Bill would halt Iowa university tuition subsidies
State Sen. Steve Bisenius proposed a plan to end state subsidies for undergraduate tuition in Iowa. Wealthy students would pay full cost while others would take loans, with forgiveness for those who stay in Iowa after graduation. He argues subsidies cover about 20 percent of actual costs and plans to save $100 million annually.

DES MOINES AP Gasohol would fall from over 20 percent to about 10 percent of Iowa motor fuel sales if Gov. Robert Ray trims its tax exemption. The plan would raise RATF funds, keep gas cheaper by about 1 cent per gallon in 1985, and follows a December surge when gasohol sales reached 30.7 million gallons or 23 percent of total fuel sales while gasoline dipped 4.5 percent from November.
