Cedar Rapids schools face enrichment levy vote this week
Cedar Rapids Community School District voters face a five year enrichment levy to avert teacher layoffs and other budget cuts. The measure would raise property taxes and add a 2.54 percent surtax on state income tax payments, generating about 2.4 million dollars next year. If rejected, 28 to 56 teachers could lose their jobs and material cuts would follow over five years.
