Pennsylvania town pleads for aid as terrorists bushwack truckers

Violence surged across 36 states as the Independent Truckers Association strike disrupted highways. Pennsylvania counties, especially Somerset along the Turnpike, faced about 96 incidents including 35 shootings and nine injuries. Town officials urged emergency declaration and state police or National Guard deployment. A UP I count tallied 541 incidents of vandalism or violence nationwide with 161 shootings. one Teamsters driver died in North Carolina and 28 others were injured.

Shot fired at trucker on I 80 near I 280 in Iowa

A driver in a small red car fired at a westbound semi on Interstate 80 near the I 280 interchange in Davenport. The bullet pierced the sleeping cab wall but the trucker was not hurt. The shooter fled south on I 280 as authorities probed the incident.

Snow drifts, closures extend across eastern Iowa roads

Iowa City hit by ice wind snow outages and floods

Ice and high winds caused scattered power outages in Iowa City affecting about 3 000 Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric customers on the east side and south central area. Snow, rain and sleet clogged streets with 6 inches of snow by 11 a.m. and streets crews clearing main roads first.
