Sound of Music thrills at Hancher in Iowa City
The national touring production of The Sound of Music fills Hancher Auditorium with brisk pacing and standout numbers. Charlotte Maltby leads as Maria with Liesl, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta, and Gretl shining in ensemble, while Ben Davis as Capt. von Trapp delivers warm arias. The show, staged across abbey and villa sets, ends with the von Trapps joining the audience in a communal finale before fleeing Nazi occupation. The performance runs through Sunday and tickets remain limited.
