Closing arguments today in Joslyn trial
The Shirley May Joslyn murder trial nears its end as closing arguments begin at 1 p.m. The defense reiterated claims a battered spouse would not plot her husband’s death, presented rebuttal evidence against a witness who saw a sack exchange, and the state read a transcript from the first trial. Joslyn, 42, from Cedar Rapids, faces aid and abetment charges with her brother Edward Waterbury in a July 1979 shooting. the Iowa Supreme Court ordered a new trial due to fair trial concerns. Glen Fults testified to seeing the sack exchange, but the defense countered with records showing Fults was allegedly sick on the day in question.
