Ball urges drafting Stassen to lead GOP campaign
Senator Ball calls on Republicans to draft Harold Stassen as the party’s presidential candidate. On CBS he portrays Stassen as a focused reformer with a broad program to address domestic and foreign issues, while Stassen serves as a Southwest Pacific navy lieutenant commander. Ball cites Stassen’s international cooperation stance and postwar reconversion plan. Also notes Stassen’s Nebraska primary entry and Ball’s view that the next president faces the toughest job in history. Mrs Sara Jane Swanson of Chicago observes her 113th birthday in sick bed after recent illness.
