Harris building bids near thirty-one million in Iowa
Linn County received two proposals for the Dr. Percy and Lileah Harris Public Health and Youth Development Services building valued at about 30.5 to 31.1 million dollars. The 55,000 square foot Cedar Rapids project will use a lease purchase with a 31.5 million cap and possible value engineering to cut costs.

Names released for Bremer County fatal shooting officers
The Bremer County Attorney identifies involved officers in the Jan. 17 fatal shooting. Officers are Iowa State Patrol troopers Nathaniel Miller Chris Forsyth and Ken Haut Bremer County sheriff's deputy Glenn Beenblossom Nashua Police Chief Travis Marvin Nashua officer Benjamin Scholl Chickasaw County deputy Adam Hanson. The deceased is Jihad Merrick, 29, of Minneapolis. A 911 call reported a man with a gun at a Floyd County truck stop. Merrick fled on Highway 218, was stopped, then fired from inside the vehicle. Authorities say he resisted arrest and hit an officer with the vehicle. two officers fired and killed him.

An Arizona man, Joseph Rosco McBride, won a 285000 settlement from Linn County after 68 days in jail for a robbery he didn t commit. The suit alleged false sworn statements by Linn County Attorney Jerry Vander Sanden led to his wrongful arrest and prosecution.
