Arctic Gas proposal endorsed over El Paso and Alcan plans

Federal Power Commission judge Nahum Litt recommended approving the Arctic Gas Study Group plan to build a 4000 mile 48 inch pipeline from Alaska through Canada to the lower 48. The Arctic proposal would employ 2400 workers at peak and transport 2 to 2.5 billion cubic feet daily by 1982 or 1983, at about $1.60 per thousand cubic feet in year five, less than the competing El Paso and Alcan plans.

Water program at Kirkwood faces shutdown over funding loss
