Man Nabbed After Taking 3 Hostages at Bus Station
A 22 year old man James Beardsley Lincoln Nebraska was arrested after taking three hostages at a St Joseph Missouri bus station. He released two women unharmed near Platte City and surrendered peacefully after a police roadblock. The hostages were Barbara Cooke 21 Omaha and Grace Mein 20 Raytown. No injuries were reported. An unmarked police detective accompanying Beardsley was unharmed.

An attendant at Arnie's Texaco on Sixth Street SW says two men bilked him of $10 Friday afternoon. They bought $3 gas, then swapped a $10 bill for ten $1 bills, gave only $9, and after requesting a $20 bill to replace the $10, left the shop short. The attendant notified police.
