Iowa Angus Association members criticized Iowa State University for focusing on low-grade cattle in feeding trials. They urged more objective beef production research at Castana Shenandoah Beaconsfield farms and the Ames beef nutrition station, noting consumer tastes shift and calling for carcass evaluation in beef shows. They contrasted hog testing stations that measure rate of gain and carcass quality with current cattle show practices.
