University of Iowa quarterback Chuck Long, ranked No. 2 passer, threw eight interceptions this season but was picked off four times as Florida defeated Iowa 14 to 6 in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville. Iowa held Florida scoreless in the second half but could not rally.
Iowa fans in Cedar Rapids watched a 14 6 defeat as Florida scored on a punt return and a second TD. Iowa's only points came from two Tom Nichol field goals amid four interceptions by the Hawkeyes quarterback.
