Violent arrest after disturbance near 16th Ave SW
Two men face charges after Friday night incidents. Steven L. Viers, 18, of 1006 12th St NE, allegedly assaulted an officer during a disturbance in the 3200 block of 16th Ave SW around 12:15 a.m. Saturday. He was charged with assault, intoxication, and related offenses after officers found liquor and marijuana on him. Earlier, at the Key of G Lounge, 800 block of First Ave NE, 20-year-old David M. Shramek of Swisher was asked to leave, then arrested on intoxication and interference with official acts after reentry.

Two arrested in Cedar Rapids school burglary case
Cedar Rapids police arrested two 19 year olds Saturday morning after finding them inside Harding Junior High School. Officers observed a broken window around 7 a.m. They identified Mark A. Ritzman and Mark A. McNeely inside the building and charged them with burglary. A small amount of suspected marijuana was found on Ritzman during processing at the station.
