Gala New Year's Parties Planned by C. R. Clubs

Numerous Cleveland area clubs and private hosts plan New Year’s Eve celebrations with dancing, cocktails, and meals. Events include Cedar Rapids Country Club from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. with Joe Doakes orchestra, Elmcrest Golf and Country Club dances, progressive dinners, and multiple cocktail parties at residences across Elmhurst Drive NE and surrounding streets. Many hosts welcome friends and club members for dinners, breakfasts, and social games before and after the midnight countdown.

A Republican national committee survey released in Washington shows the 1951 all time high of 235 women serving in state legislatures will hold into 1952. The tally notes gains in New Jersey despite losses in Kentucky and Mississippi, with 12 Republican and 9 Democratic state senates, 140 Republican and 72 Democratic assemblies, and two nonpartisan seats. Eight states will have no women voting on legislative roll calls.
