Carol Woods daughter of the Rev. John P. Woods, who taught in Sidney and Broken Hill, Australia, for two years. She received a BA from Macalester in 1965 and an MA from the University of Minnesota in 1971. In Australia she worked with infants and primary grades, lived in Broken Hill, and observed outback life including flying doctors and local horse races.
