In Eastern Iowa, Isaac Carroll and family moved from Hamilton, Canada, in 1839 to found Kenwood Park. The community grew via land claims, incorporation efforts in 1886, a post office push in 1890, and real estate boom with trolley access. By 1914 the town built a water plant, and 1921 paving improved First Avenue traffic amid enforcement by local motorcycle cops.

Kenwood Park Annexation Follows Cedar Rapids Merger
In the mid 1920s Kenwood Park, facing rapid growth and pollution facility strain, voted to annex to Cedar Rapids. A 346 to 233 decision on December 17, 1925 preceded Cedar Rapids approval in March. The merger留 debts to be paid by each city, with Kenwood Park credited $27,000 for town hall water works and sewer system. Kenwood Park became a Cedar Rapids neighborhood on July 1, 1926.
