Iowa City budget proposes tax rise and housing inspector
The 2006 fiscal plan calls for a 1.95 percent residential tax increase, adding a sixth housing inspector funded by permit fees, restructuring the Fire Department without more personnel, and delaying a fourth fire station. Capital projects total about 22.5 million with unfunded items at 153 million through 2009. City officials plan a Jan. 6 work session to review the budget taking effect July 1.

Cedar Rapids Eyes Taxi Fare Hike At January Hearing
