East Iowa church built and dedicated in 1903 Atalissa

Bazette correspondent Ada Smith recounts the Bon Evangelical Lutheran church at Atalissa. From eight families to 40, with 118 baptized, 84 confirmed, 69 in Sunday school, and a 20 member men's group. The church began in Moscow attendance, built on a lot bought for $150, dedication Oct 11, 1903, pastor salary $150 yearly. Many German records pre 1918, affiliations with Evangelical Lutheran Iowa Synod then American Lutheran Church in 1936.
