Italian sources said Italy had virtually given up any hope for territorial gains at France’s expense and that fascists had no plan to invade French Somaliland.
Two armed men robbed the Mills County treasurer’s office in Glene Wood, escaping with 1700 in cash. Treasurer Maurice Mayberry surprised the pair as they opened the vault, was bound, and later freed. Authorities pursue suspects. Mayberry reported no records damaged. Mayberry, a Democrat, lost to C. D. Aistrope in November.
