Retiring Coralville barber ends 45 year run at Dave's Shop
Dave Sonday, longtime Coralville barber at Dave's Barbershop near First Avenue and Second Street, retires after more than 45 years in the same storefront since 1968. The shop, known for talks on city news, sports and humor, survived the 2008 Flood. Mike Walker will take over with plans to hire another barber. Sonday, 67, plans time with grandkids, travel, and perhaps golf, while reflecting on a life spent cutting hair and shaping local chatter.
