Neighbors spotted a fire at 128 Golfview Court in North Liberty early Christmas morning. Firefighters from North Liberty, Coralville, and Solon responded for two hours. Cause under investigation. Occupants displaced are staying with relatives. Responders included police, ambulance, energy and emergency communications crews.
A southbound semi owned by Zuber Grain driven by Jackson Von Ahsen 19 of South Amana struck an eastbound train at a crossing south of Main Amana on Highway 151. The crash blocked the highway for about two hours, injuries were not reported, and the truck and pickup were damaged. Von Ahsen was cited for failing to stop at an active train crossing.

Cedar Rapids woman Emily Delores Edgeton, 24, held on a 25000 cash bond on first degree robbery and conspiracy charges linked to a June Quick Mart Liquor & Wine heist in Hiawatha. Police say she drove two men, who threatened an employee and grabbed about 1400 dollars. surveillance tied her vehicle to the crime and phone messages indicate involvement. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 2 in Linn County District Court.
