New risk link found between post-surgical ischemia and heart attack
A Boston study reports patients with poor post operative heart blood flow are nine times more likely to have a heart attack within days. Ischemia after non cardiac surgery raises risk of cardiac death, non fatal heart attack, or chest pain at rest. Dennis Mangano notes early detection and treatment could reduce deaths and costs.
