St Vincent de Paul aids Cedar Rapids families for 150 years
The St. Vincent de Paul Society in Cedar Rapids, dating to 1910, assists needy families with food clothing and rent and utilities. Volunteers delivered 268 baskets at Christmas. about 587 families received goods last fiscal year plus bakery items. around 600 more helped with bus tickets groceries and more. Members note dwindling numbers but emphasize broad community aid beyond religion.
