Christmas party for the birds in Legion Park
Fifth graders from Mentzer Elementary School in Marion staged a Christmas party for birds and animals in Legion Park near the school. They decorated a large pine tree and hung food from its branches based on a Chippewa legend about an annual winter gathering of animals and birds to share experiences. The event centers on December 21, the winter solstice.
