Ray bets Iowa foods to settle Rose Bowl wager with Spellman
Gov. Robert Ray says he will wager 131 dollars in Iowa food and meats on the Rose Bowl against Washington Governor John Spellman, with the loser to pay. Ray believes Iowa will win and notes the bet includes steaks chops turkey and blue cheese while Spellman bets apples salmon wine and cheese. He says the wager may be legal under Iowa law and expects to win by one or more points. He also comments on Poland grain embargo and a federal ERA decision, calling the latter dampening for ratification efforts.
