Special to The Gazette. Rudolph Schma deke, 17, was killed instantly at Westgate Tuesday forenoon when the oil truck he was driving struck a rut and tipped over crushing him. Three other youths riding with him were injured.
In Sioux City AP report on the trial of Attorney General Edward L. O'Connor. Defense counsel T. E. Diamond resumes Thursday morning with Fred Free and H. M. Hayner to conclude for the state. A diary exhibit led to a heated exchange as Havner objected to partial diary evidence. Diamond argued the diary could impeach Bert Bollinger's testimony about payments while Findley was alleged in Des Moines. The judge ruled the exhibit admissible and warned Havner to stop interruptions.
Lyman Hall a 62 year old inmate who has spent 38 Christmases in Joliet prison asked Warden Joseph Ragen for one day of freedom. He asked for holly for his window and offered two handmade gifts for the warden and his son. The warden granted the holly.
President Roosevelt announced Brigadier General Oscar Westover will head the Army Air Corps to succeed Benjamin Foulois. Westover joins Edgar Conley Walter Reed and others promoted, with Moses and Cole elevated to major generals.

Lima Peru report says two American aviators Harold MacMickle and Chief Engineer Petch of Pan American Grace Airways were killed when a tri motored Ford passenger airliner they were testing crashed near Lima Tambo air drome. The five year old plane was being evaluated.
