In St Louis a 60 year old dentist Dr Squire P Bevier is feared to have killed Mrs Joseph M Elder 71 and then killed himself after a quarrel over a bill. A witness saw a man like Bevier jump into the Mississippi from the Missouri side Friday. Police found a suicide note saying she got hers and Me for the river. Elder had dental work with Bevier eight years earlier.
About thirty children skated on an inlet of the Harlem river ship canal in Manhattan when ice broke. One boy drowned while a boy and a man were rescued. Police and emergency crews aided in the rescue amid scattered rescues and hospital transport for two injured individuals.

Hilary Lane a transient was found with seven pairs of women's hose. Thomas O'Hara 21 and Leland Farristal 20 of Coggan were arrested with a compact a windshield wiper a watch and perfume.
Urban H. Palmer 87, former state commander of Minnesota G A R and the sole surviving member of the John Logan post in Minneapolis since 1929, died Saturday. He had lived in St James and served four years as custodian at the Minnesota state capitol in St Paul.
President Hoover and party spent Christmas Eve on Ossabaw Island Georgia aboard the Sequoia.
