Unemployment in the Cedar Rapids metro area held at 4.2 percent in November with 141,000 employed, while Iowa City’s rate fell to 2.8 percent from 3.0. Total non farm jobs rose 1,100 in Cedar Rapids and 700 in Iowa City to record highs. Government shed 1,100 jobs year over year.
Meredith Corp will acquire KTVK TV and KASW TV in Phoenix and KMOV TV in St Louis from Gannett and Sander Media for 407.5 million. The deal, part of Gannett Belo acquisitions, is expected to close in early 2014 and boost Merediths revenue and earnings per share.
