Vernon junior high school reno plan reflects early 20th century foresight
Marion Independent district weighs renovation and addition to the Vernon junior high building first built in 1923-24. The proposed two story four hundred pupil capacity project, originally planned with space for two later expansions, followed a bond vote in 1923 and election in 1924. The Lincoln building later became a junior high, and the 1924 project opened with 350 students. The Lincoln structure was finally razed in 1971 after Mentzer Elementary was built.
