University card misuse rare at Iowa public universities
Iowa's three public universities issue procurement cards to staff with strict oversight. Last year card purchases totaled $114 million, and only four misuse cases in 10 to 15 years have occurred. The University of Iowa recently added a third oversight level after an employee faced first degree theft for personal charges totaling over $12,200.
