Nine Manchester boxers enter Golden Gloves at Des Moines

Des Moines coach Oscar Hicks confirms Manchester will field nine boxers for the All-Iowa Golden Gloves at Veterans Auditorium January 7 8. Louisville Hall of Fame coach Heldman dies at 65

Dr. John Heldman Jr a longtime Louisville figure in athletics died of an apparent heart attack at his home after returning from the Cardinals basketball game with Kansas He served 33 years at the University of Louisville as baseball coach and athletic director.

New Pact For Webster

The New York Giants signed coach Alex Webster to a new one year contract per his request. Webster said he preferred year to year work and would only stay if he were winning and contributing.
