Stork Report Sees Baby Boom Dwindle in U S
The Stork Report notes births in the United States fell from a postwar peak to about 3.6 million this year. It cites hospital trends with maternity beds underuse and rising birth control use. Second and higher order births show sharp declines, though first births may rise as postwar children marry, with record highs possibly in the 1970s.
