Auto Train Crash Kills Two in Linn
Two Linn county men died in a car train collision near Rogers crossing west of Linn at 11 50 p m Thursday. Lawrence J Reeves 31 of Coggan drove the car eastbound and Paul L Everett 40 of Central City rode as passenger. The car was dragged 246 feet after striking the tenth car of an Illinois Central freight train. No train crew injuries reported. Reeves and Everett services set for Monday and Tuesday at local churches with Murdoch funeral home arrangements.

Cedar Rapids mourns Maj Jerry J. Jenkinson 33 a 1958 Iowa graduate and former Iowa football player killed in a Texas T37 jet trainer crash. Also killed 2nd Lt R J McCracken 22 of Cedar Hills Missouri. Jenkinson's fighter was shot down in Vietnam but he was rescued.

Allies Alert for Enemy Anniversary Attacks
U S and South Vietnamese forces were alerted for increased enemy attacks in observance of two major Vietnamese communist anniversaries. Chilean Jetliner Hijacked En Route to Havana
A LAN Airlines jet carrying 98 people was hijacked by an unnamed armed man and ordered to Cuba. The incident marked the year’s 61st hijacking and Latin America’s 30th.
