Amateur sports linked to degenerative brain disease in Mayo study
Mayo Clinic researchers report that about one third of donated brains from men who played amateur contact sports in youth show chronic traumatic encephalopathy CTE pathology. The study compares 66 male athletes to 198 non participants finding 32 percent with CTE and notes potential genetic factors.

Acetaminophen Fails To Alter Flu Symptoms In Trial
A New Zealand study with 80 adults in 2011 2012 shows four daily doses of acetaminophen did not reduce fever viral load or improve flu symptoms versus placebo. Researchers tracked fever temperatures viral load and symptom scores over 14 days finding no meaningful difference. Braithwaite cautions results are not generalizable from a single healthy adult cohort.
