Newtown Begins Funerals For Two 6 Year Olds
In Newtown Connecticut two six year olds Noah Pozner and Jack Pinto were buried as part of a grief filled procession following last week’s Sandy Hook massacre. The services drew mourners at two funeral homes, Noah’s casket bore a Star of David while Jack Pinto wore a Giants jersey. Noah’s uncle spoke of the boy’s potential and family said news media were barred from the ceremonies. Authorities have not confirmed the school’s reopening as families brace for more funerals and try to resume some routine days amidst community sorrow.

IOWA LEGISLATURE: Small windfall from surplus expected
Iowa has a 688 million dollar budget surplus that could grow to about 811 million in 2014. State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald says low interest rates keep this from being a windfall. Short term bonds fund most cash and earnings are about 1/2 percent. He notes borrowing is cheap but safety remains first priority.
