FBI agent's fresh concrete crash ends with fines

Davenport FBI agent John Wellman pleaded guilty to reckless driving and speeding after driving on freshly poured concrete on County Road W-15 causing nearly 70 thousand dollars in damage. He was fined 415 dollars plus court costs and ordered to pay 1,187 dollars in restitution to Keokuk County. The contractor, Fred Carlson Co., is pursuing a settlement with the federal government for 69,602 dollars. Wellman, 46, has over 20 years in the FBI and apologized, noting the incident was unfortunate.
