Senate ro bo call bill seeks stiffer penalties and tech safeguards
Bipartisan legislation unveiled by Senators Thune and Markey aims to raise penalties on illegal robocalls to up to 10 000 per call. The bill would require carriers to deploy call authentication tech and extend the statute of limitations to three years while uniting federal and state authorities to prosecute robocallers. Consumer groups back the move and FCC leaders support stronger enforcement.
