Siemens to build Fort Madison turbine blades for large Iowa wind project
Siemens Energy will produce blades for 448 wind turbines at the Fort Madison plant as part of MidAmerican Energy’s 1.9 billion wind project across five Iowa counties. The deal supports about 500 permanent Fort Madison jobs and up to 1,000 construction positions during installation. The project aims to power the equivalent of 317,000 Iowa homes and expands wind capacity to 1,050 megawatts statewide by 2015.
