Voters reject two school bonds in Independence and Washington
In Independence voters defeated an 11.78 million bond for a 19.49 million high school by 1,866 to 1,371, 57.6 percent. In Washington the 12.1 million bond for an 18.8 million new high school failed 1,088 to 1,024 with 60 percent needed. a second measure to use local option funds passed 1,129 to 933. Police later identified a suspect in a separate assault case, with investigations and past charges noted for the suspect's history.
